⚠️ Important Notice: IIAR 9 Compliance Deadline Approaching – January 1, 2026

Dear Valued Customer,

We want to bring to your attention an important regulatory deadline that directly impacts owners and operators of ammonia refrigeration systems.

What is IIAR 9?
IIAR 9 establishes the minimum safety requirements for existing closed-circuit ammonia refrigeration systems. It also provides a clear method for determining whether your current system complies with these requirements—or if modifications are necessary.

Why does this matter?
Before IIAR 9, many owners and designated representatives were uncertain whether their older refrigeration systems, designed under previous codes and standards, met updated safety requirements. IIAR 9 resolves this by giving a structured approach to:

  • Evaluate your existing system against minimum safety standards.

  • Identify potential gaps in compliance.

  • Develop a plan to address and correct those gaps.

What's required?
An initial safety evaluation must be conducted for every closed-circuit ammonia refrigeration system no later than January 1, 2026. This ensures compliance with IIAR 9's minimum safety requirements and positions your system for continued safe operation.

Action Needed: If you have not yet begun the evaluation process, now is the time to start. Waiting too long could put your facility at risk of non-compliance as the deadline approaches.

We're here to support you in meeting these requirements. Please contact us with any questions or to schedule your IIAR 9 compliance evaluation.

Sincerely,

Michael McCarl, President
